We’re excited to introduce a new approach to connection and group formation called Rooted.  Rooted is an 11-week small group discipleship experience, in which groups gather each week, and, with a workbook and facilitator, walk through Scripture and engage in discussion.  Rooted is not just another group study, though!  Through a highly experiential model, Rooted reinforces what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, built on essential practices like worship, generosity, service, evangelism, prayer and studying God’s word.  Because these practices are foundational to group life, Rooted helps establish the DNA of what Community Groups are, alongside creating community through the relationships.  We will conduct three sessions of Rooted each year, with launches in January, April (around Easter), and September.

We completed a “pilot” of Rooted with 19 new and existing Community Groups in the Fall of 2018 and the response exceeded our expectations! While it was overwhelmingly positive for all groups involved, the experience was significantly more impactful for groups where the relationships were new to each other.  Given this reality, we’re confident that Rooted will serve as a great environment for establishing new groups that will want to continue on as Community Groups after the 11 weeks are over.  So, beginning in January 2019, Rooted will becoming the new “front door” for engaging in group life at PV and a great launching pad for Community Groups.

Can Existing Groups Participate in Rooted?

Because of the unique way Rooted builds community in a relatively short amount of time, it’s important that existing groups participate in Rooted when they are ready to add new people to their group.  By welcoming new people into the group through the experience of Rooted, this will effectively serve as a re-set or restart to your Community Group.
